Buckets Gets His Paw Fixed

I've put off a lot of things lately, one of which was fixing the paw of Dutch's "girlfriend" Buckets. Her paw had come open and a pouch of little tiny beads were spilling everywhere. We gathered all the beads up and put her in a plastic bag and hid her away until I could get around to fixing her.

The other day, I decided it was really pathetic that I hadn't fixed the little guys favorite toy, so I got her down while Dutch was out soaking in the sunlight and unlikely to come see what I was doing. I hadn't gotten very far before the Man saw what I was working on and of course, he brought Dutch back to check it out.

That little stinker was so excited. He cried and begged and bounced off my leg the entire time. Fortunately, it didn't take long to get her stitched and Dutch happily dragged her off to the sunshine. And I've got something, however little, crossed off that never-ending list of mine.

Goof

He's a silly dog. I'm not sure what he was doing, but he was cute.

I had to crouch down on all fours to get his picture.

I even, in a moment of complete stupidity, tried to lay on
my stomach to get his picture. That hurt. Duh.

Laundry Hog

Dutch has a fondness for warm clean laundry. Yes, its surprising, I know, considering this is the dog that sleeps in front of heating vents and any sunshine that he can find.

I guess it gives me an excuse to avoid folding right away.

Dutch Does Prep

Dutch got a new shirt and he doesn't hate it. I'm not sure he likes it either, but at least he doesn't hate it. I think I must be in the mood to dress up the dog.

How About Something Not Negative?

How 'bout a shot of my favorite boys making our bed?

Cowboy up, Dutchie!

The Man came home today with what I'm going to call a snowsuit for the dog. It is so stinking hilarious. I think if he got over his dislike of anything on his little body, he'd love it, since he's always cold. He however, acts as though he's being tortured and may possibly fall over and die at any moment (just like he did with his first few times on a leash - heavens, the torture!) He's not dramatic at all.

Anyway, aside from looking like a cowboy in a snowsuit, he's waddling just like one too. We were crying trying to take his picture in it.

This is what I think of your stupid snowsuit, Dad!

He's such a twirp!

I got a few new embroidery hoops awhile ago (I forget why), but Dutch discovered them and it only took him a few minutes to demolish it. Good thing they're cheap! He's lucky he's cute.

He's got the look of the devil in his eyes, doesn't he?

Collar Two

I made up another collar for Dutch the other day. I decided to try white to blend in a little better. Okay, so it kinda makes his fur look dirty, but whatever.

The thing that bugs me is that it makes his fur stick up. If I make it any looser, though, it wouldn't be safe to hook a leash to. I've tried that. Bad, bad idea. Chihuahua run fast.

I kissed a bored dog

I kissed a bored dog this morning and smelled coffee breath. Hmm. Why is that?

[Investigation commences]

I think I have spotted the source. Someone's been drinking coffee that I left on the side table in the living room last night. See that line on the side? He enjoyed it. He downed a fair bit!

Dutch is One Year Old

So you're probably tired of hearing about my dog, but bear with me. I don't have anything else exciting to share with you.

Dutch turned one year old on Saturday. I had started a batch of strawberry cupcakes earlier and run out of eggs, so I decided to finish making them and baked a batch of mini cupcakes and frosted them with strawberry buttercream so that he could have cake on his birthday.

He was pretty excited. This is the audience I had while icing the cupcakes.

I accidentally picked out a "sparkling" candle. Ha!

Dutch didn't like the candle and was irritated that there was a cupcake with fire on it.

Hand over the cupcake!

Yummy.

We shared them with his doggy friends.

Harley does not need a cupcake, but we love him. He is Dutch's best bud.

This is Beans, the newest member of the fam. Dutch isn't sure he likes him,

but he is cute and so he gets a cupcake.

Wicked Bored

I have a ridiculously bored dog on my hands. I'm trying to paint in my office, and it is taking forever and ever. So this is what a pouting, bored dog does. That would be a stolen bath rug and he's in the process of shredding it. Lovely.

Dutch Finally Learned to Ask for Crack Bones

Dutch is approaching a year old and we've been feeding him Greenies (aka crack) most of that year (shhh . . . don't tell the Greenies people. They're not for dogs as young as he was or as little as he is).

They've been stored in the bottom of our linen closet in the hall and we've never kept secret where they were. Just recently he's discovered that if he sits in the hall and whines at the door, he may just get one. So after trying that a few times, he's become more insistent each time he tries it. He cried for one first thing in the morning yesterday and then last night he sat in the hall and whines turned into barks and then into wails. Little rotten stinker. Someone is getting too spoiled for their own good.

Yes, good Daddy. That's what I want.

Please please please? I do stick em up!

He is, in fact, crying for one just now. Pig.

Happy Fourth!

Our Fourth was nothing too terribly exciting. The skies were gray and there was some dripping going on, but we did smoke some beef tenderloin . . .

Mmm. Smells good.

Work a bit on moving the path in the back yard . . .

Must find. . .

something

is in here that I need. Something.

What? Is there something on my nose?

and watched some fireworks.

Is loud. But is okay.

Dutch Does The Doggy Paddle

The Man has started his vacation, and since there is so much that ought to be done around here, we are going to stay at home and try to get some stuff down around here. But we wanted to go up to Mom & Dad's house first since The Man never gets a chance to come with me.

Dutch eagerly anticipates arriving at Grammy & Papa's house.
He loves their chihuahua, Harley, and their great big yard to play in.

The pool was open and during the brief period of time on Saturday in which it was not raining, we got in and persuaded Dutch to join us. He has never been around any sort of water before (besides the bathtub) and he fearlessly leaped into my arms when we were in the pool on Father's Day. I had him swim around a tiny bit then to see if he would like it. This time, we thought we'd get him to swim some more and hopefully learn how and how to get out of the pool if he accidentally fell in.

Nervously licking the lips.

The Man started out by carrying him in, where Dutch quickly retreated to the highest spot he could stand on. We got him to doggy paddle back and forth to us a few times and he would try to head for the closest side. He can't get out there, of course, so he quickly figured out how to follow the side around to the steps. He doesn't seem to be too traumatized by the event and he was very cute in all his wet, freckled glory.

I can swim! What a relief!

A l m o s t there.

Grammy, I'm not sure this is my best angle.

Ah, help. They makes me swim.
